12 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pick Up – City Tour
A tour guide from Gorilla Trek Africa will meet you at the airport on arrival and will transfer you to Kigali for a city tour. This depends on your arrival time as early arrival you will have a grand Kigali tour to Rwanda’s historical sites.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National park
Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel, early morningand set off to Nyungwe forest national park. Dinner and Overnight stay at Nyungwe Forst Lodge ( Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Hotel (Mid-range), Gisakura Guest House (Basic).
Day 3: Chimps Tracking – Canopy walk/nature walk/birding
In the morning, you will move to the forest to begin your primate tracking expedition. You will notably enjoy the view of the Chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, baboons. There is a concentration of over 13 primate species and a variety of bird species in this vast national park. Retire to your hotel for dinner and overnight
Day 4: Transfer from Nyungwe NP – Volcanoes National Park
Have an early at your hotel and your guide will drive you off to Volcanoes National Park. The drive will take you via Lake Kivu were you will have clear views of the water body and take pictures of the beautiful area. Have lunch en route and continue with our interesting drive. Arrive late and check in to your lodge.

Day 5: First Gorilla Tracking – Tour the Twin Lakes
Have an early breakfast headout to the park headquarters for briefing from the senior park ranger you will commence your memorable gorilla trekking which normally takes 2 to 6 hours in the jungle. You will be allowed to stay in the presence of the gorillas for a maximum of 1 full hour. In the afternoon if your up for it head out for a tour the twin lake of Burera & Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at your lodge
Day 6: Golden Monkeys Tracking – Transfer to Bwindi
Wake up early for your breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for briefing about the Golden Monkey, now listed as endangered because of their small numbers. Or you can opt to Hike to the Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre which Dian Fossey, the famous primatologist set up. Return to your lodge for lunch and drive off to Uganda crossing the border to Bwindi Gorilla forest. Dinner and overnight at Budget: Bakiga Lodge/ Wagtail eco lodge, Mid-range: Gorilla Mist/Nshongi Gorilla resort, Luxury: Gorilla safari lodge/Gorilla resort
Day 7: Second Gorilla tracking in Uganda
Today wakeup early for a quick breakfast and head out for briefing from the guides, set off for the gorilla tracking in the impenetrable forest. All travelers should be assembled at the briefing point by 8.00am. You need to carry packed lunch, drinking water, rain jacket and walking stick will be provided. After briefing, enter the forest to track gorillas, the time taken to find the magnificent primates is unpredictable since it depends on when the gorillas where last seen. If time permits take an afternoon community walk before retiring for dinner at your lodge. Meal plan –Breakfast, lunch &Dinner in accommodations of previous day
Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
In the morning, you will set off to QENP passing via Ishasha sector where you will have game drives to view tree climbing lions, variety of bird species. Reach the park early enough for lunch. In the afternoon, gather at the Kazinga channel for a boat cruise along the channel where you will be rewarded with view of game as Hippos, crocodiles, buffalos, elephants as well as a variety of birds. Dinner and overnight, Budget: Kingfisher Lodge, Mid-range: Enganzi Lodge, Luxury: Mweya safari lodge.
Day 9: Game Drive & Launch Cruise
Today wake up early for your breakfast and then go for game drive with a rewarding opportunity to see wildlife such as Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Bush bucks and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hours launch cruise on Kazinga Channel. This trip will pass through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals that may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing
Day 10: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Breakfast at your lodge and transfer to Kibale National Park with a game drive enroute. Kibale lies amidst the great mountains of the moon offering you beautiful sceneries. Arrive early for lunch at Chimp nest restaurant, and then proceed for wild chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest. Expect an encounter with other primates such as primates such as the Mangabeys, colobus monkeys, bush babies, Olive baboons and many more. Dinner and overnight
Day 11: Chimpanzee Tracking Uganda
After breakfast, you will head to the Park headquarters at Kanyachu for chimpanzee tracking briefing by the Park Rangers. After this, you will be accompanied by the Ranger Guide into the forest to search for the Chimpanzee which are Man’s closest friends and Cousins. Kibale Forest is not only home to the chimps but also to other 12 species of primates including the red colobus and L’hoests monkeys, Varvet Monkeys, Red Tailed Monkeys, baboons and so on. You will experience how the chimps feed and interact with each other. Return back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon set out for the Nature walk in Bigodi swamp. Here you will enjoy various bird species and also other primates. Bigodi is considered as a bird watchers paradise because of the very many bird species that can be viewed from the swamp. Dinner and Over night.

Day 12: Return To Kampala
Drive to Kampala with stops en route and reach Kampala by midday. You will have a Kampala and visit places like Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyr’s shrine, Uganda Museum and National Theatre. Late in the evening drop at hotel. Dinner and Overnight
