5 Days Rwanda Uganda primates safari will begin in Kigali-Rwanda and end in Kampala-Uganda; you will track the rare mountain gorillas in the volcanoes national park and later transfer to Uganda for chimp tracking in the kibale forest national park a home to over 13 species of primates
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be met and welcomed by our safari tour guide who will brief you about the safari and later drive you to the northern part of Rwanda in Ruhangeri Musanze district passing through Rwandan countryside on the foot hill of the Virunga Volcanoes. Volcanoes national park is a home to the endangered mountain gorillas. In case you arrive in time in Kigali you will first go for a Kigali city tour before you proceed to volcanoes national park. Dinner and an overnight at Gorilla View lodge, Sabyinyo silver back lodge (Luxury) or Gorilla’s Nest lodge (Midrange)
Day 2: Gorilla tracking
After breakfast at the lodge, you will report to the park headquarters in Kinigi to receive short briefings about gorilla tracking and also gets you assigned to the gorilla family and a ranger guide. After, you will escort the ranger guide deep into the forest to begin the gorilla tracking activity one of the most adventurous safaris activities done on earth. Gorilla tracking is unpredictable since meeting them depend on where they spent their last night from, however, tracking can go from 1-8 hours in the jungle while searching them, so a reasonable degree of fitness is needed as well as tracking gears like sturdy pairs of walking shoes/boots, long sleeved shirts and blouses , bottled and sometimes packed lunch.
Ounce these giants are met you strictly allowed only one hour with them while observing their behaviors as well as taking as many photography as you can(a flash camera is not allowed). After the activity, you will be driven back to the lodge for late lunch and in the evening if you still have energy you may go for cultural walk to Iby’wachu. Day 3: Transfer to Uganda-kibale forest national park
After a morning breakfast, you will embark on a transfer to Uganda with a fantastic drive through out, after finalizing with the border requirements cross to Uganda, you will be driven through kisolo and kibale to fort portal with a lunch en route, you will arrive at the park in the evening, the evening will be spent at leisure at the lodge/hotel. Dinner and an overnight at Kyaninga Lodge, primate lodge Kibale, Ndali Lodge (luxury), kibale forest Camp, Ruwenzori view guest house (midrange), Chimpanzee Forest Guest House(budget)
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and Nature walk
After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters in Kanyankyu for a short briefing before you set off to the forest to begin chimp tracking activity. Chimpanzee tracking is one of the most done tourist activity at the park, Chimpanzee tracking time is unpredictable since they are wild animals, they keep on moving from one place to another in search for food, and meeting them also sometimes depends on where they spent their last night from however, tracking can last from 1-6 hours, so some levels of physical fitness is needed as well as tracking gears like sturdy pair of walking shoes. Ounce chimps are met you strictly allowed only one hour with them learning their behaviors as well as taking as many photos as you can. Chimps are fabulous fun to watch when playing on fruitful trees or tree blanches.
Kibale is a home to over 13 species of primates other primate species can be seen in the process of chimp tracking including the Colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked Mangabeys, baboons, civet monkey, among many others, the guide will provide you with all relative information needed on any forest flora and fauna you meet on the way. After the activity came back to the lodge for lunch, in the afternoon go for bigodi nature walk or Ndali crater lakes region. Day 5: Departure
Have a hearty morning breakfast and then after embark on a transfer to Kampala and later to the Entebbe international airport to meet your departure flight back home if scheduled on the same day
